Wordle is a word game that has taken the world by storm. Families and friends are pitted against each other, all over a game where they guess a five letter word in six tries. While there is no doubt that this game has had major success, one question remains: is Wordle really worth the hype? In this article, I will share my opinions on this simplistic word game and why I think it hit this amazing fame that it did.
WHAT IS WORDLE AND WHY DO WE LOVE IT?
Wordle is a “daily word game” (per its catchphrase) that tests your intelligence and, sometimes, luck. You type in a five-letter word, and the Wordle machine pops back at you at how much this word shares with the correct word. Each letter in the word turns a specific colour: if it turns green, the letter is in the word and in the right place. If it turns yellow, it’s a letter that is in the word, but isn’t in the right place. And, if it turns grey, that means that specific letter is not in the word. Based on what you find with each guess, you must try and guess the correct word in six tries. Seems simple, right? Nonetheless, it has reached tons of popularity - from tycoons to teachers, scientists to sailors, approximately 2 million people play each day! But why? In short, it’s because its simplicity appeals to everyone that all can take part in and enjoy each day. Kids and adults alike enjoy this game thanks to its simple yet competitive nature giving people a great chance for a fun competition. Wordle really is a universal competition
WHAT DO I THINK OF IT?
I am a huge fan of Wordle - I compete with family and friends everyday. It’s a fun way for all of us to improve our vocabulary and I highly recommend it! It brings me so much joy that it is one of the first things I do in the morning! At least for me, Wordle is quite competitive. Ultimately, though, it’s just good fun for those who participate. I hope that everyone reading this article gives Wordle a go, too!
