The Spider-Man Movies, ranked

This article is a ranking of all the Spider-Man movies, from worst to best.

9. Spider-Man 3

Rating: 6/10

The final edition of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy is fun to watch due to the Bully Maguire meme culture that emerged years after the movie’s release. Sadly, it suffers from a bad plot, wonky CGI, and an unnecessary addition of Venom as an antagonist.

8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Rating: 7.5/10

The second and final edition to Andrew Garfiled’s short run as Spider-Man is an improvement over Spider-Man 3 and is evidence of the strong chemistry between the two leads, Garfield and Emma Stone. There’s also great cinematography and stunning visuals, but it is ultimately dragged down by its underwhelming antagonists and its unfocused narrative.

7. The Amazing Spider-Man

Rating: 8/10

The best edition of The Amazing Spider-Man duology has stunning stunts, an incredible score, and a interesting depiction of Spider-Man himself. Ultimately, however, it suffers from some uneven pacing.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Rating: 8.5/10

A fun coming-of-age story, a promising cast, and a compelling antagonist makes Spider-Man: Homecoming a blast, but it could benefit from some better creative decisions as well as not being tied down by the MCU formula.

5. Spider-Man

Rating: 9/10

With some excellent cinematography, an outstanding villain, and a great depiction of Spider-Man, the first entry of Tobey Maguire’s run as Spider-Man is an outstanding origin story, but Maguire himself brings it down a bit with some bland line delivery.

4. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Rating: 9.2/10

With a grounded story, great visuals, and charismatic performance from Jake Gylenhall, Spider-Man Far From Home is a fun summer adventure with a shocking mid-credits scene.

3. Spider-Man 2

Rating: 9.5/10

A solid story, with good visuals for a 2000’s movie, and yet another incredible antagonist, Spider-Man 2 proves to be a strong addition to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Despite its highly rated reputation (in some people’s eyes it is the best comic book movie out there), it sadly doesn’t quite live up to that billing.

2. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse

Rating: 10/10

Probably one of the best animated movies, if not the best, ever. Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse has an amazing story, a beautiful message, stunning animation, as well as fun, compelling characters, and a banger soundtrack.

1. Spider-Man No Way Home

Rating: 10/10

A culmination of 20 years in the making, Spider-Man No Way Home is a hilarious, dark, emotional, and impactful movie that will put you through a rollercoaster of emotions. It also includes a great character arc for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, enabling him to shine in the role while also still managing to squeeze in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the character in supporting roles. It also has the best ending in any superhero movie, pulling on emotional heart strings like nothing that has come before it. Spider Man No Way Home is a triumphant end to the MCU Spider-Man trilogy, and is also successful in whipping up excitement for the incoming second trilogy that is also set within the MCU.
