The Trump-Ukraine crisis, which involves the current president of the United States, Donald Trump, has raised much controversy in the news. In simple terms, it is where Trump and his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani repeatedly pressed the Government of Ukraine and the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate fellow 2020 U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. The call between these two leaders took place on July 25th and ‘rough’ transcripts have been circulating through the media. The transcript itself is one of the main causes of the controversy.
There is no doubt at all that what Trump was trying to do was discredit and besmirch other 2020 U.S presidential candidates. The controversy has sparked an impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump which, to be honest, he has brought on himself due to his unacceptable actions. An impeachment injury in the United States, is where the president or important government official is brought to the senate of government and charged for crimes that have been committed by the president or the important official. In this scenario, Trump’s impeachment inquiry, which has already begun is on the basis of repeatedly pressing the Ukraine government to investigate the fellow U.S presidential candidate and his son for Trump’s own political interests. It is felt by a growing majority of people that Donald Trump has only ever acted for his own political interests and never for his nation’s people. From the time when Trump suggested nuking a hurricane (and denying he suggested it) to the time when he threw paper towels into a crowd in Puerto Rico, he has only ever cared about what he thinks is right and not what actually is right. Many people respond to these actions as ‘jokes’ and don’t regard them as having a basis in his political ideologies; however, that is to underestimate the President. The reality; however, is that he truly believes that his political ideologies (eg. nuking anything to solve a problem or throwing paper towels) which actually bring an end to these problems, which is obviously not the case. Therefore, the conspiracy, believed by many, that president Donald Trump abused his power and position in order to damage the reputation of Joe Biden, a political rival, is starting to look less like a conspiracy and more like potential fact. The evidence of the high impeachment inquiry is certainly going to make interesting reading.
