We might not all love fantasy books. However, for those who haven’t given them a go, or for those who are willing to give them a second chance, here are some that are a MUST when trying to enter the world of fantasy:
The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White: This is the first book of the fantasy series (Camelot Rising) reimagining the Arthurian legend, set in the magical world of Camelot. From the mysterious Princess Guinevere to the Kingdom of Camelot, what more could you ask for?
The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: This is the first book in the series, written by an American Author known as Victoria Aveyard. A fantasy and dystopian adventure, for readers who love romance, this must be the place you call home.
Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: This is the first book in the series, written by Pakistani-American author, Sabaa Tahir. Set in a place known as the Martial Empire, with two different personalities’ destinies intertwined, you may finally have a book your hands will be itching to hold onto!
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare: This is the sequel series after the Mortal Instruments series by American author Cassandra Clare. When in the world of the Shadow Hunters’, there is a high chance even monsters can’t chase you away from their world of stories!
The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu: This is a standalone (unlike the books mentioned previously) that is based on the world of Mozart. Unlike other books, that are based mainly on Mozart, this one is based on his Sister, Nannerl, and partly on the relationship Mozart had with Nannerl. When wanting to transport yourself to another world this is a book, you must read.
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig: This is a standalone book that is a combination of romance and (of course!) fantasy! If you are someone looking for a great yet horrific retelling of The Brother Grimms’ fairy-tale named “Twelve Dancing Princesses”, read this book!
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: This is a series of 6 books, which has a combination of romance and urban fantasy. You will fall in love with this book within the first few pages, unable to let go for even a moment! So, next time you look for a book to cry over….well, you know what you want to look for.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: This is a series of 8 books, which has a small amount of romance (compared to the other books listed in this article) and a lot of fantasy. For readers who love Sarah J. Maas’ books, this is definitely a series they will recommend to you!
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black: This is a series of 5 books, that touches and explores the world of the fae (fairies), whilst being classified as a high fantasy, science fantasy and of course, fantasy fiction. For readers who are looking for an enemies-to-lovers read, this book is dedicated to you!
Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo: This is a trilogy that is set in the fantasy kingdom of Ravka (based on Russia), where there are people called Grisha who have magic powers. I think that says enough about the book, and how addicting it will be for readers who live on romance and fantasy fiction!
