Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger has been one of the best series I’ve ever read. It allows my imagination to run wild and lets me escape from reality. Keeper of the Lost Cities is about a girl named Sophie Foster that she has a secret. She’s a Telepath and can hear the thoughts of all humans around her. It’s a talent she’s never known how to explain, and is forced to hide for the past seven years of her life. But everything changes the day she meets Fitz Vacker, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere and tells her that she is actually an elf. She finds out that there’s a place where she truly does belong, and that staying with her family will put them and herself in grave danger now that she has been found. In the blink of an eye, Sophie is forced to leave behind everything she's ever known and start a new life in a place that is vastly different to what she is used to. Sophie has new rules to learn and new skills to master but not everyone is thrilled that she has finally come “home.” There are secrets buried deep in Sophie’s memory, secrets about who she really is and why she was hidden among humans. Secrets that some mysterious alliances desperately need and would not hesitate to kill for. In this incredible series, Shannon Messenger creates a story in which one girl must figure out why she is the key to a brand new world, before the wrong person finds the answer first... The genre of this series is fantasy fiction and the books are packed with different adventures, 'undiscovered' creatures, interesting personalities and touching characters, as well as relationships you will root for until the end of time! One of the reasons why I love the series is because of all the battles Sophie Foster and her friends have to face against various villains and all the twists and turns in the books. Keeper of the Lost Cities currently consists of 8 amazing books. The books in order are: -Keeper of the Lost Cities -Exile -Everblaze -Neverseen -Lodestar -NightFall -Flashback -Legacy -Unlocked (Book 8.5 that is coming out on the 17th of November!) My favourite character in Keeper of the Lost Cities is Keefe Sencen. He is a 16 year old elf with ice blue eyes, disheveled blond hair and a stunning smirk. He is a great artist, however his parents don’t appreciate his talents and consider him a waste of time. I love his personality because he is fun to be around and is extremely funny! I also love how he manages to stay the hilarious person he is, even after going through so much.
Keefe has a range of different abilities: -Empath (can feel people’s emotions) -Photographic memory (can remember information/images by looking at them) -Mimicry (can mimic other people’s voices) I recommend this series to all people who love reading fantasy stories and wish for an escape from reality. So go ahead and borrow the first book from the library and enjoy!
