fortnite vs apex: let battle commence
Two heavyweights of the gaming world are debated here by two of their biggest fans. Which title comes out the victor?
Eric: Look Ahan – the facts speak for themselves. Fortnite has had 200 million players hooked on the game all around the globe. it's rated 4.5/5 on the App Store, and is the biggest boom in the gaming industry since Minecraft Alpha version was released in 2009.
Ahan: Wow. 200 million players hooked? Can’t argue, that’s a big number, but notice the year when it boomed, 2018, which is LAST year. Sorry to say but Fortnite just isn’t relevant anymore in 2019. Gamers get bored of the undeniable repetitiveness of spending half the game mining for materials, just so there opponent can W-key them with an overpowered minigun and faze through their builds. Doesn’t sound very fun does it? Well then play Apex, a high paced intense yet fun Battle Royale experience which has hooked 50 million gamers since it release merely 3 months ago. THIS year, not last.
Eric: But I don’t see Apex in the app store do I? I do see Fortnite. Fortnite is available on most electronic platforms like mobiles, PCs, Xbox and Ps4. Best of all, you don’t need to purchase the game, and people don’t get good at Fortnite because they paid for all the skins, they get good because they are GOOD.
Ahan: The main point I see in your argument is that Fortnite is free to play and that whales of the game can’t buy their way into becoming very good - skill is required instead, creating a level playing field. I’m not sure if you are aware, but apex is EXACTLY that. Gamers graft and work to get better and the only things you can buy are skins, which are for cosmetics only and don’t give a competitive advantage. And as for your argument of Apex not being accessible, remember that the game is 5 months young and very much in development, but still can be played on Ps4 and PC, the most used platforms by gamers. When Fortnite was 5 months old, only PC players could play, which is worse then Apex when they’re 5 months young. Imagine how big it will be once it’s as old as Fortnite, which is 1 and a half years…
Eric: Fortnite does not only have a PvP mode, but it also it has a PvE mode for PC, Xbox and PS4. This is called “Save the World” where you and your friends could team up and defeat hordes and hordes of zombies. See, Fortnite can even help people get to know their fellow friends, and any way, people have proposed to each other on Fortnite. Apex only has a Battle Royale mode which can get boring after some time.
Ahan: Fortnite “Save the World” is Fortnite’s biggest disappointment. Gamers would rather spend money on Vbucks to buy cosmetics then the $10 for “Save the World”, so it’s fair to say that the PvE is so irrelevant that it adds no value to the game. In other words, Fortnite is essentially a Battle Royale as well, and how can you say a Battle Royale gets boring if you’re also saying that Fortnite, a Battle Royale experience that’s been around for more than a year is still fun?
I guess these two are never going to agree, so it's up to you out there to pick a side…
