![]() Although Chanel’s famous creator, Coco Chanel, has long passed, its continuation to push the boundaries of fashion has seised to fail. Within the 1920’s, Chanel introduced the world to its revolutionary little black dress, and due to its trendy risqué cut and obscure colour choice during that time, it has become the staple piece in every female's closet throughout the last few generations. The fashion brand ultimately established itself in the industry after the 1925 release of its revolutionary female garment: the Chanel suit. Its strive to expand fashion's horizon has persevered throughout the last couple of decades and develops its ideas according to inspirations they have chosen. ![]() Chanel's head creative director's, Karl Lagerfeld's inspiration for their Autumn/Winter 2017/18 collection is quite literally out of this world. Underneath the glass dome of the Grand Palais, models of the runway walk the catwalk with Chanel’s International Space Station's mission-inspired outfits. After last season's Data Centre collection for Spring/Summer 2017, the idea of space came across Karl Lagerfeld's mind; he even got inspired by the idea of a rocket. The decor itself in the heart of the Grand Palais featured a great 37-metre tall rocket in which almost 90 models displayed the designer's outstanding space outfit; including a reinvented Chanel suit featuring cosmic optics! The designer revealed his intentions with his statement, "This is a journey to the sky, at the heart of the constellations, following that of astronaut Thomas Pesquet." The suit itself included futuristic elements with a hint of Trompe-l’oeil with its square-shouldered sleeves that look as if they were coming out of the vest. The outfit was accented with silver fingerless gloves that display the most intriguing feature being a rigid ring similar to the pieces of the collar on an astronaut's spacesuit.
