Among Us - the game that has taken the world by storm. A game of strategy, deceiving and lies. A game in which everyone is suspicious and nobody is to be trusted. Read on for our review of the game, tips and tricks to ensure victory, and why you should join this worldwide phenomenon.
The aim of Among Us is to either: be the impostor and kill everyone before they finish their tasks, or be the crewmate and finish your tasks to fix your spaceship before the imposter kills everyone. The game was originally called ‘Space Mafia’, due to the fact that it is based on the game Mafia, where there is one killer and the rest of the players are villagers. This game takes a spin on it, by turning the killer into an ‘impostor’, and the villagers into ‘crewmates’ aboard a spaceship, hence the name ‘Space Mafia’. Our collective opinion on the game is that it is incredible. Fun and enrapturing, Among Us, succeed in all aspects. Some of our favourite features include the multiplayer aspect, the strategy required and the affordability of it. The multiplayer feature allows people to play with online strangers, or with friends in local lobbies. The players communicate through a chat feature that appears during meetings. The strategy involved as an impostor is both simple and complex, requiring great knowledge to succeed without being ‘sus’. (Note: ‘sus’ is a short form for suspicious, and is used a lot within the game). Some examples of the complex strategy include sabotaging far away from the body, and the skill needed to be calm and collected in meetings where accusations become heated. Accuse too many people and you become suspicious; stay silent and it’s seen that you’re hiding something. The final feature, the affordability, is also great. On mobile, it is free to download, meaning over 1.4 billion people can access it. It is also available on computers too, for a small fee. During these times, it is extremely difficult to hang out with friends or play games together. But don’t fear, because you can play Among Us with anyone around the world! Every game will come with a code, and if you send it to your friends, they can enter and play with you. If they live on the other, you can simply set your area (in the bottom corner of the page) to the same one, (eg. Asia, North America, Europe) and your codes will be synced accordingly.
